Throughout all of my fieldwork experiences, I have used my planner to establish a schedule of professional and personal priorities. By planning ahead, I am able to maintain a balanced lifestyle. I always perform my professional obligations first, but then I allow time for myself. For example, every Wednesday afternoon I would prepare for a coping skills class that I taught every Thursday. After I felt prepared, I made sure to enjoy the rest of my day by going on a run, eating dinner with friends, or just relaxing at home. As a student, sometimes it is difficult to make time for myself, as I always feel like I need to be doing something productive. However, I have realized that in order to manage stress and not feel overwhelmed, I need to make time for my own meaningful occupations.
